# Percentage Greater than 100

Percentage is a method of showing the data in the form of fraction with the denominator 100. The percentage of the data is shown by the symbol “%” or “pct”. Percentages can be used to compare one quantity with another quantity.. There are various method to find percentage of a quantity. So percentage is basically used to compare two quantity.

### Percentage conversions

• Percentage conversion is relationship between numbers. A percentage is written in the form of fraction with a specific number divided by 100.
• To change a $\frac{1}{4}$ to a % multiplies by 100.( i.e. $\frac{1}{4}$ x 100 = $\frac{100}{4}$ = 25 %)
• To change a % to an the form of fraction number divide by 100. I.e. 50 % = $\frac{50}{100}$ equals $\frac{1}{2}$ or half. The same fractions may be essential to find out lowest terms.

To find percentage of the data, the data are multiplied with the percent and then divided by 100. If there is any decimal place, we have to round it to the required decimal position.

### Example: if we have to find 120% of 50 then it will be equal to $\frac{50\times120}{100}$ = 60

Question 1: Find 110 % for the data 80.
Solution:

110 % of 80 = $\frac{80\times110}{100}$

= $\frac{8800}{100}$ = 88

Question 2: Find 120% of 95
Solution:

120 % of 95 = $\frac{120\times95}{100}$

= $\frac{11400}{100}$ = 114

Question 3: How much percent of 50 is equal to 105?
Solution:

let x % of 50 = 105

So $\frac{50x}{100}$ = 105

50x = 105 × 100

x = $\frac{10500}{50}$ = 210 %

Question 4: Find 500 % of 100.
Solution:

500 % of 100 is equal to

100 x $\frac{500}{100}$ = 500

Question 5: Find the 280 % of 50
Solution:

here we have to find 280 % of 50

So 280 % of 50 = 50 x 280100 = 140
