# Numerical Expression

A numerical expression is the group of numerical values which are separated by addition or subtraction. Numerical expression is simply the real number all the positive value (1, 2, 3, 4...) and minus value (-1, -2, -3, -4….) and 0. Order of process is one method to evaluate the numerical term in given expression .

## What is a Numerical Expression

Order of process is used when one or more function is involving in a problem. We have the three rules to do the problems on order of operations.

• First perform the action within the parentheses.
• From left to right order, do all the multiplication and division function.
• Finally do all the addition and subtraction operations from left to right.

## Numerical Expression Definition

Here, the numerical means ‘involving numbers’ and expression means ‘phrase’. The numerical expression performs the operation only by the numbers are any operational symbols like variables x or y.
For example: 3 + 19 - 6, (4 + 5) - 9, (8 * 4) ÷ 22, 7÷ (22 * 5), 7 * ( 62 + 5 )

Question 1: Evaluate the numerical term in the expression 10+ 7 x (6 + 3) ÷ 9 - 8 using the order of operations.
Solution:

Since all the four symbols are present in the given expression, we have to do all the three additions, subtraction, multiplication, division operations here.

= 10 + 7 x (6 +3) ÷ 9 - 8

=10 + 7 x 9 ÷ 9 - 8

= 10 + 63÷ 9 - 8

= 10 + 7 - 8

= 10 - 1

= 9

Question 2: Evaluate the numerical term in the expression 100÷ (13 + 3 x 9) - 2 using the order of operations.
Solution:

Since all the four symbols are present in the given expression, we have to do all the three additions, subtraction, multiplication, division operations here.

= 100 ÷ (13 + 3 x 9) – 2

=100 ÷ (13 + 27) – 2

= 100 ÷ 40 – 2

= 2.5– 2

= 0.5

Question 3: Appraise the numerical term in the expression 55 - (8 * 9 - 7) + 4 using the order of operations.
Solution:

= 55 - (8 * 9 - 7) + 4

= 55 - (72 - 7) + 4

= 55 - 65 + 4

=  - 10 + 4

=  - 6

Question 4: Evaluate the numerical term in the expression 3 + 5 (2 + 4) - 7 using the order of operations.
Solution:

Since all the four symbols are present in the given expression, we have to do all the three additions, subtraction, multiplication, division operations here.

=3 + 5 ( 2 + 4 ) - 7

= 3+10+20 -7

= 33-7

= 26
