Question 1: In how many different ways can the letters of the word 'BLOATING' be arranged?
Solution:
 
The word 'BLOATING' has 8 distinct letters.

Required number of ways = 8!


= 8 $\times$ 7  $\times$ 6  $\times$ 5  $\times$ 4  $\times$ 3  $\times$ 2  $\times$ 1

= 40320
 

Question 2: Sixty four men can complete a piece of work in 40 days. In how many days can 32 men complete the same piece of work?
Solution:
 
64 men can complete a piece of work in 40 days (given)

Therefore 1 man complete the work in 40 $\times$ 64 days

32 men will do the same work in $\frac{40 \times 64}{32}$ = 80 days
 

Question 3: What is the area of a circle whose circumference is 1447 meters? (Use $\pi$ = 3.14)
Solution:
 
Circumference of circle = 1447 meters

Formula for circumference of circle = 2$\pi$r

=> 2$\pi$r = 1447

2 $\times$ 3.14 $\times$ r = 1447

6.28 r = 1447

r = $\frac{1447}{6.28}$ = 230.41

Radius of the circle is 230.41 meters

Now area of circle = $\pi$ r$^2$

= 3.14 $\times$ 230.41 $\times$ 230.41

= 166698.73

Area of the circle is 166698.73 square meters.
